Biography of Babasonicos

The long-awaited follow-up to the Latin Grammy-nominated Jessico is ready! “Infame”, released on EMI LATIN, was recorded between July and September 2003 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Renowned alternative-rock producer Andrew Weiss flew in from New Jersey to serve as engineer and co-producer. He’s collaborated with Babasónicos before, and also worked with Ween, Butthole Surfers, and on the most recent album by Café Tacuba, to name just a few. The album was mastered in New York by Howie Weinberg, one of the music world’s best recording engineers.
“Infame” features first single “Irresponsables” (now receiving adds at radio), “Once”, “Putita”, “La Puntita and Suturno.” It’s scheduled to be released during the middle of this month.
Alejandro Ros created the cover art, which will be featured in a limited-edition release (the first 10,000 copies of the album). Subsequent pressings of Infame will sport a different cover, used for both the Argentine and international markets.
During November 2003 Babasónicos toured Argentina, previewing tracks from the CD.
The Argentina tour took the group to Tandil (11/6), Mar del Plata (11/7), La Plata (11/8), General Ramírez- Entre Ríos (11/14), San Luis (11/20), San Juan (11/21), Mendoza (11/22), Neuquén (11/23), Rosario (11/28) and Córdoba (11/29).
Babasónicos invited L. Camorra and Victoria Mil to open for them on this tour. Both opening artists are wrapping up albums for Babasónicos’ own label, Bultaco Discos, which focuses on new alterna-rock music.
It’s worth mentioning that Bultaco will be distributed by Pop Art and that the label’s next release will be the new album by Carca.
On Nov. 15, 2003, Babasónicos were one of the highlights of the jam-packed Creamfields Music Festival in Puerto Madero, Argentina. They closed out 2003 on a high note on Dec. 13 with a big concert at Buenos Aires’ prestigious Luna Park venue.
